‘The start of something special’

A good old fashioned cliché to mark and celebrate the company’s 20th birthday this summer. Where has it all gone? It doesn’t seem 20yrs since Nick and I started out at our first premises in Kelvinside, Wallasey. My mind boggles when attempting to make sense of it all.

Anyway, I think most of us will realise that there has been a lot of change in the last 6 months.

These changes have been instigated by Richard in his attempt to set up a better business for us all to enjoy. The end goal is for the business to be more professional, to be well structured, with less risk, future proof and with more opportunities for people to progress.

This new journey had to begin with strengthening the senior management team. So the board team was extended to include 7 members rather than 4.

Culminating recently in the appointment to the board of directors of Neil Jones as Contracts Director. Neil has already made a significantly impressive start in his new role and is making every use of the vast experience he has in the industry at all levels.

Nevertheless, Richard did not want to stop there. We recognised to our peril, that over the last 6 months our ability to secure work for future months by relying on our past and present client base, was totally inadequate.

Our weaknesses were obvious. Sales and Marketing Management was not good enough and neither was the factory set up. So we appointed Lee Karpinski as Sales and Marketing Manager, Mark Talbot as Business Development Manager, complemented by Andy Blythe the Factory and Production Manager.

By appointing the new senior managers to work with the board, we are creating a special interactive team responsible for the future welfare of the company in all departments.

These board members are not in for an easy ride, as we have put some challenging objectives in front of them. They will be doing your PDP’s in the coming few months and there are some good growth targets in place for them to achieve. Over the coming months you should also start to see more transparency on what is needed from you or your department in order for your department/company to succeed.

We have always enjoyed having strong and experienced individuals throughout the company, the board’s main task is to make sure that all of these individuals work well together and the company performs as well as it can.

JPF News

Installations are finally complete at Holyhead Primary, Calday Grange Grammar School and Solar Campus.

We have now started fabricating for the work at The Corn Exchange for W H Snow and work has started at Glasdir Ruthin for Wynne Construction

Work is progressing well with all of our recent projects due to the installation of the new production line process within the factory. Well done to Andy and the production team for all your hard work, we are already seeing fantastic results that will only improve with time!

ADC News

Installations Department

The ADC installations department has had a busy few months!  We’ve installed new doors/ shutters at The Chill Factore, Hollister, Stansted Airport, The Bank of America, The University of Liverpool, and Farm and Pet Place. A special thanks goes out to our shutter engineers for the fantastic jobs completed at The Pinnacle!

Service Department

March was a record month for the ADC service department. Well done guys! They have recently taken on some exciting new service contracts recently including:

  • Bury College
  • Leighton Hospital
  • Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS
  • Lancaster City Council
  • Oldham Council

Office Renovations

The JPF offices have undergone some big changes in the past few months!

With UKLED now having left Apex Court, this opened up more space in the factory and the upstairs offices. These 2 offices have been made into a Factory Office where you can now find Andy Blythe, Ian Irving & Paul Chapman and an ADC training room.

Due to increasing numbers of staff the ADC service department have moved out of the main office, downstairs into their own office (with a short stopover in the walkway). This has given them more desk space (which they desperately needed) and allowed for the recruitment of 3 new members of staff.

Finally, the Director’s/ Accounts office has also undergone an overhaul this month with new partitioning screen installed to split the office in 2 (and allow Richard some peace and quiet)!

Staff Events

The JPF ladies (& Sam) had a great time at the Village Hotel’s Naughty Ninety’s night on 16/06/2017. There was some questionable dancing and an awful lot of drinking which resulted in a fab night! Watch out for the next night out which will be scheduled soon

There must be something in the water here at Apex Court because we’ve had a baby boom recently!

Congratulations to JPF Managing Director, Richard Parker and his wife Amy, who welcomed daughter Ivy to the world in March. Congratulations are also in order for JPF Installer Ady Miller and his wife Becky who welcomed baby Oliver and ADC Engineer Mike Hilton and his girlfriend Amy who welcomed baby Tobias as well!

Finally, ADC’s Installations Coordinator, Jo Prendergast, became a Nana in January. Baby Lily was born in January. Congrats Jo!

And we’re not done! Congratulations are also in order for Craig Davies, Tom Jackson, Tom Challinor and Dave Thorbinson whose new arrivals are all due in December/ January time. Seriously guys, what is going on?!?!?

Wedding Bells!

Congratulations to Lyn and fiancé Roy who are set to be married on 21/08/2017 in Florida and Laura Upton & fiancé Tom who are saying their vows in Vegas on 07/09/2017

Also huge congratulations go to Georgia and Frank who celebrated their silver wedding anniversary on 11/08/2017! Frank you haven’t aged a day! 

Local hero saves horse from horror blaze!

Mick Davies; Family Man, Tranmere Fan, JPF Driver and Horse Hero!

Mick showed true courage and bravery recently when he saved the life of a horse on his way to Glasdir School in Ruthin. When he noticed a car on fire in the road, Mick leapt into action! Blocking the road with his van to prevent any more injuries occurring, Mick (and the help of another passer-by who we do not know and therefore will pretend it was all Mick) raced towards the horse box which was still attached to the back of the burning car. Mick employed his super strength to unhook the car and pull the horse to safety! What a hero!

In all seriousness though, well done Mick! You make us proud to call you our JPF driver!
