Wallasey Town Hall
Project Details
Built in 1916, the grade II listed Wallasey Town Hall was in desperate need of refurbishment when Wirral Council approached ADC.
They were looking to replace the outdated power swing door sets with a new, more energy efficient entrance solution, to be designed to be in keeping with the historical building and its surroundings. The ADC team installed a new set of bi-folding automatic doors to the inner and outer main entrance of the building, with activation and safety sensors to full comply with DDA opening widths and access requirements.
The aluminium doors were designed with a bronze anodised finish to be in keeping with the building’s character and the material chosen allowed for better thermal values, thus increasing the energy efficiency of the entrance way. When designing the doors, the ADC team were highly considerate of the building’s listed status and were careful to plan the re-fit so as not to disrupt the existing structure and maintain the historic features.
