There are now 2.5 million people in the UK living with cancer. By 2030, it will be 4 million people. One in three of us will get cancer in our lifetimes and it will be one of the toughest things we’ll ever have to face.
Macmillan’s goal is to make sure no one faces cancer alone. They provide medical, emotional, practical and financial support, as well as campaigning for better cancer care, but cancer affects more than just those facing it and are there for friends and family who also benefit from the support Macmillan provide.
Every year, Macmillan host The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, their biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer and this year, ADC took part!
Nothing brings the ADC together better than a slice of cake (or a brownie!) We’re giving a huge shout out to all of our fantastic bakers (and fakers) and a big thanks to everyone who took part and did their bit by eating as much cake as possible in aid of Macmillan!
This year we raised a grand total of £321.74 which will go towards helping Macmillan support those battling cancer. The team have raised enough money to pay for a Macmillan grant that helps a family affected by cancer take a holiday and enjoy precious time together and still have enough left over to pay for a Macmillan nurse for an hour, helping people living with cancer and their families receive the essential medical, practical and social support they need.
We had a great day raising money and expanding our waistlines and would love you to get involved and help raise a penny or two for Macmillan as well!
